The funeral for Marcia B. Whitley will be 3 pm Friday, August 12th, at the First Church of the Nazarene, Thompson Blvd., with Rev. Chad Clardie officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellisburg Cemetery. Calling hours are today (Thursday, August 11th) from 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, 632 State St., Watertown. Contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of Jefferson Co., 425 Washington St., the Life Church of the Nazarene, 535 Thompson Blvd., both of Watertown, NY 13601 or to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Whitley, 78, of Jewell Dr., passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 9th, 2011 at her home following a brief illness.
Marcia was born in Great Bend, NY, July 16, 1933, a daughter of William and Flora Styles Boshart. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1950 and was a 1955 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College. Mrs. Whitley taught music and was the choir director for 33 years at Belleville Central School and Belleville Henderson Central School, retiring in 1989. Following her retirement, she spent two years taking courses at the Nazarene Bible School in Colorado Springs, CO.
Mrs. Whitley attended the Belleville and Ellisburg United Methodist Churches where she was the organist and choir director for 26 years. She taught Sunday School, Women's Bible Studies and played the organ at the Nazarene Church in Watertown for 23 years until her passing. Marcia was a longtime member of the Northern Choral Society.
She enjoyed attending her sons sporting events, loved her Boston Red Sox, reading, playing the piano for the Ives Hill Retirement Community, traveling and Hummingbird watching.

Marcia married Wilson Adams in 1958. He passed in 1960 from complications of tuberculosis. She married W. William Whitley in 1962. They resided in Ellisburg for many years. Mr. Whitley passed away November 5th, 1982.
Mrs. Whitley is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jay and Linda Adams, Syracuse; Jon Whitley, Adams Center; Joel and Melissa Whitley, Naperville, IL; James and Michelle Whitley, Adams Center; eight grandchildren. Her brothers and sisters, Mary Ellen (Jim) Fox, Melrose, MA; Dean (Phyllis) Boshart and Charlotte French, all of Newark, DE; Gary Boshart, Kissimmee, FL., several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers Donald in infancy and Dale Boshart, a sister Doreen Graves and a brother-in-law Daniel French.
